Spring Fashion: How to Incorporate Flowers into Your Outfit

Spring is just around the corner.  We can look forward to the birds chirping, the sun shining, and the flowers blooming.  In celebration of spring, let's incorporate flowers into our outfit.

A fun way to do this is to find a gorgeous flower headband, like the one here from Forever 21.  In order to pull off this look, match your headband with your belt.  Add a chunky necklace with coordinating earrings, and you will have a look that is ultra preppy and sophisticated.  Add a cardigan for warmth and feet-friendly flats, and you'll have a look that will rival the prettiness of any flower.

Necklace: Forever 21 $9
Pink Belt: Forever 21 $5
Navy Shoes: Forever 21 $23
Green Striped Dress: Forever 21 $28
Headband: Forever 21 $5
Earrings: Forever21 $2
Sweater: Old Navy $23

Cat Clothes for Women: Catnip for Critics

When I was younger, I had a tee shirt that looked something like this.  You know what?  I LOVED it.  I'm not ashamed, because I was seven.

But, for some reason, adult cat shirts are making a come back.  Ask yourself one thing: do you want to be associated in anyway with the sad "cat lady" stereotypes?  Because you are welcoming, if not forcing, the comparison by wearing an adult cat shirt.  Also, adult cat dresses and shoes are the functional equivalent of cat tee shirts.  These are some of the worst offenders:

If you must express your love for cats, put these on, at home, as you settle in for a night of companionship with your 10 cats, knitting project, and cup of tea ;)

Just Say No...to the Jumpsuit

"The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody has decided not to see."
        - The Fountainhead

People should not wear jumpsuits.  End of discussion.

Unless, you want to remind people of Elvis or Queen.

If that's the look you're going for, knock yourself out.

Please, let's end this before it begins.

Dress Cutouts: The First Step Towards a New Career

I want to dress just like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman...said no one ever.  Yet, somehow dresses imitating the 1990's most famous prostitute are flooding store racks.  As you will remember, her signature style was a skin-tight dress with cutouts on the side.

Inexplicably, the dresses below are being sold today.  In 2013.  To women who, presumably, do not want to be mistaken for prostitutes.

The top three dresses are strikingly similar to the Pretty Woman style.  Really, they are only missing the silver ring.  Where would you even wear this style? Clubbing?  That's my best guess.  But, there are so many better options.

The bottom row dresses are truly a mystery to me.  They have the sweetness of a dress that you would wear to dinner or to church, but the cutouts make them virtually unwearable.  They scream "dressy prostitute."
